A6 in Loughborough re-opened after collision

The driver of a Volkswagen Golf has been taken to hospital after he was involved in a collision on the A6, Derby Road, Loughborough around 3.10am today (Friday 15 July).

The occupant of the vehicle failed to stop for police officers in Baxter Gate and was subsequently involved in a collision. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The driver remains in hospital in a stable condition, his injuries are not believed to be serious.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving, failing to stop and driving whilst disqualified.

Enquiries are ongoing into the incident and Derby Road between Bishop Meadow Road and Belton Road was closed but has since been re-opened.

If anyone witnessed the collision they are asked to contact the police on 101, quoting incident 52 of 15 July.

Due to the police contact prior to the collision the incident has been referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) for consideration.
