Arrest after man injured in Leicester

Officers have arrested a 45-year-old man in connection with an incident at a property in Leicester.

Emergency services were called to Turner Road at about 2.10am today (Wednesday 27 July) where a man had sustained significant burn injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A woman at the property had also sustained minor injuries, she was taken to hospital and discharged after treatment.

We are in the early stages of our investigation and at this stage it would appear to be an isolated incident.

A cordon is in place at the scene while forensic examinations are completed and further searches are conducted.

The man was arrested on suspicion of assault and is currently in custody.
