Attempted theft of ATM in Thringstone

Police were called to a store in Thringstone during the early hours of this morning (Monday 5 June) after an attempt was made to steal the ATM.

The incident was reported at 4.22am, a JCB digger was used to try and extract the ATM from the wall of the Co-op in The Green. The suspects made off empty handed.

Extensive damage was caused to the building during the incident and the scene has been cordoned off.

It’s believed the suspects used a Toyota pick-up. The Toyota was found abandoned in the Copt Oak area.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing. If anyone witnessed the attempted theft or saw any of the vehicles arriving or leaving the area then we’d like to speak to you.
