Christmas Crime Prevention Message from DI Amanda Thomas

DI Amanda Thomas who leads on crime investigation in Torfaen, Caerphilly and Blaenau Gwent is urging residents to ensure their homes and vehicles are kept secure to avoid becoming victim of theft or burglary this Christmas.

“Unfortunately we continue to receive reports from residents who have been victims of burglary or theft. However, a significant number of the vehicles and properties targeted have been left insecure and incidents could have easily been prevented.

“I’m urging residents to ensure that all doors and windows to their homes, as well as their vehicles, are kept locked and secure at all times, especially when they are left unattended and overnight.

“Also please keep any keys/ valuable items out of sight. Don’t leave keys visible through windows or letterboxes, or any Christmas presents on view.

“Please remain vigilant, take all the precautions you can to keep you and your property safe. Don’t make it easy for thieves and allow them to spoil your Christmas.”
