Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in Bartley Green have charged a 16-year-old male with murder.
The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested on Monday night (3 July) following a disorder in Woodgate Gardens at around 10.50pm that resulted in the death of local man Alexander Phillip Leonard.
A post mortem examination concluded that Mr Leonard, aged 22, died from a single stab wound to the chest.
The 16-year-old – who is from Bartley Green – has today been charged with murder and is set to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Two men, aged 18 and 21, that were also arrested in connection with the enquiry have now been released without charge.
Detective Inspector Caroline Corfield said: “Our investigations continue and I’d urge anyone who witnessed the stabbing, or has information they think could help the enquiry, to get in touch if they have not yet spoken to the police.”
