Detectives name murder victim

A man who died after a stabbing in Leicester has been named.

Ashley Johnson of Leicester was found injured in Dannett Street at 3.42am on Saturday (24 February).

The 24-year-old died on his way to hospital after suffering a stab wound.

A 39-year-old man was arrested yesterday afternoon on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and remains in police custody.

It’s believed there may have been an altercation between two groups of young men who were in separate vehicles travelling in the Fosse Road North or New Parks area.

The car Ashley was in came to rest in Dannett Street where he was found injured.

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death and are urging anyone who can assist to get in touch. Anyone who was in this area between 3am and 3.42am, either on foot or in a vehicle, may be able to assist with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, quoting incident number 92 of 24 February.
