Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision yesterday (Tuesday 12 June) on Melton Road, involving a pedestrian and a white Mercedes tipper lorry.
It happened just before 2pm, near to the junction with Flax Road, as the lorry was travelling towards the city centre.
A woman, 81, was taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary with what was described as life-changing injuries.
The driver of the lorry was uninjured.
The road was closed while officers carried out an investigation of the scene. It was reopened at around 5pm.
We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed either the collision or the lorry being driven beforehand.
