At approximately 17:32 hours on Saturday 16th March 2019 police received a number of 999 calls in relation to a serious two vehicle road traffic collision which had occurred on the A390 near to the junction of Coliza Hill, Trelowth, St Austell.
Involved was a silver Jaguar XF driven by a 26 year old male from the St Austell area, and a green Mazda MX-5 driven by a 32 year old local male.
South West Ambulance Service and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were also in attendance.
As a result of the collision, the 26 year old male was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 32 year old male was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police officers from the Roads Policing Team, including specialist Forensic Collision Investigators closed the road for approximately 6 hours in order to carry out a thorough scene investigation.
