Football match ends in assault

Police are investigating an assault at the Torre Abbey Grounds in Torquay which left a boy with facial injuries.

The assault happened between 8pm and 9.15pm on Wednesday 21 June 2017.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, was head butted whilst he played a game of football.

PC Ant Moore said: “A group of visiting international students were enjoying a game of football with a group of local youths when towards the end of the match, one of the local youths became aggressive.

“The game was ended and one of the local youths headbutted and punched some of the students. One student sustained a laceration above the left eye requiring four stitches.

“I am appealing for witnesses to come forward to assist in the identification of the offender.”
