Four people arrested in murder inquiry

Detectives investigating the death of Adam Bent have made four arrests.

This afternoon (18 July) a man was arrested on suspicion of murder and he is currently in police custody.

Two men and a teenage girl have been arrested for assisting an offender and are also in custody.

Adam died after he sustained a stab wound during an incident at the junction of Braunstone Gate and Western Boulevard in the early hours of Saturday 16 July.

Police were called at 3.50am and he was taken to hospital by the ambulance service and subsequently died.

Detectives from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) launched an investigation and are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Holvey who is leading the investigation, said: “Although we have made some arrests, we are still really keen to speak to anyone who has not yet contacted us.

“Braunstone Gate and Western Boulevard were busy – there were plenty of people out and about. We know there were taxis in the area and people leaving bars. I believe there are still some members of the public who may have seen what happened but have not yet called us.

“Please take a moment to think back to the early hours of Saturday morning. Were you in the area? Did you see any altercation or a man chasing another man at the junction of Western Boulevard and Braunstone Gate?

“Call us now on 101, or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
