High performance car involved in non stop collision

Leicestershire Police are interested in talking to anyone who may know the driver of a white VW Golf ‘Type R’ which failed to stop after colliding with a pedestrian.

A 26 year woman was seriously injured in the incident at about 3.30am on Saturday 17 December on Brackenfield Way in Thurmaston. She is currently in the Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham where her condition is described as critical but stable.

The car was later found abandoned on Bretton Walk in Beaumont Leys.

Detective Sergeant Mark Watling from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said; “We’d like to talk to anyone who saw the white Volkswagon Golf either before or after the collision at 3.30am in the early hours of Saturday morning. It is distinctive because it is a high performance model and we’d like to talk to anyone who knows the driver, or saw the vehicle travelling from Thurmaston to Beaumont Leys.

If you saw what happened, or if you may have any information that may help with the investigation, please call 101 and ask to speak to DS Mark Watling in connection with incident 107 of Saturday 17 December.
