Detectives are investigating after burglars stole a cash machine from a business in Ashby.
The incident was reported to police at 3.09am this morning (Monday 10 July) when a digger was used to pull the machine from the wall of a building society in Market Street.
Extensive damage was caused to the building and a large amount of debris was left in the road which required it to be closed. It has since been reopened.
Detective Constable Miranda Granger, the investigating officer, said: “The digger was used to ram the front of the building in order for the suspects to remove the cash machine which would have caused a significant amount of disruption.
“Our investigation is continuing and we’re keen to hear from anyone with information about the incident. Did you see any suspicious activity in the area? Do you know anything about the incident?
“Regardless of how insignificant you think the information is, we want to hear from you.”
