Officers would like to speak to the people in the images as they could have information about an assault.

It happened on Charles Street, near to Bistro Live, and the victim, a 45-year-old man, sustained serious injuries including a fractured skull.

Detective Constable Aimee Farmer said: “This was a nasty assault and the people featured in the images could have information which would help out enquiries as they were in the area at the time. We are keen to speak to them so we can find out if they saw anything.

“This incident happened on the weekend before Christmas and the area was busy with people walking to and from bars and restaurants.

“Please have a look and see if you recognise the people in these images. One is of two men. The other two are of the same two women.

“I appreciate they are not the best quality but I believe people will be able to identify themselves, or those close to them.

“Equally, if you are not in the images, but were in the area at the time and think you could have information, please get in touch as soon as possible.”

The assault happened between 1.30am and 1.40am on Saturday 17 December, anyone with information is asked to call 101 and quote incident 16000419527.
