Police were informed at 2.05pm today, Tuesday 23rd August 2016, of a road traffic collision on Alphington Road, A377, in Exeter involving a single vehicle. Drivers are advised to avoid the area due to tailbacks.
A lorry carrying hay passed under the railway bridge near County Tyres but en route through collided with the bridge. Some of the load spilled on the road and the rest of the load was deemed unstable.
A telehandler is on scene to assist with clearance, and polce are in attendance. Network Rail was informed and is in attendance to assess the condition of the railway bridge.
The road will remain closed while clear up work continues. #
No injuries are reported.
