Man arrested following Wednesbury assault

An investigation has been launched and a man has been arrested following an assault in Friar Park, Wednesbury yesterday evening (9 July).

Officers were called to Friar Park Road at around 7.45pm following reports that a man had been attacked with a bladed weapon thought to be a machete.

The 35-year-old man was taken to hospital with serious injuries and remains in a critical but stable condition.

A 53-year-old man was arrested a short time later from a nearby address on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody.
