Man held for questioning for murder of mother and son in Stourbridge

A man is still being held on suspicion of murder following the deaths of a mother and her son in Stourbridge this morning (Thursday 30 March).

Both received fatal stab injuries at their home in Greyhound Lane around 8am. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her 13-year-old son died in hospital a short while later.

The woman’s husband remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital this evening after being found in the garden with stab wounds to his chest and back.

The family’s Land Rover was stolen from outside the property and intercepted by police on Norton Road around 8.30am where the man was arrested.

Two police officers received minor injuries after their vehicle was rammed before the Land Rover crashed into a garden wall. They were treated at hospital and then discharged.

Dudley Police Superintendent Lee Kendrick, said: “What has unfolded here this morning is horrific and heart-breaking. Police and ambulance were confronted with an awful scene: a man, woman and boy all with very serious stab injuries.

“The woman and boy were found in the house and the man in the garden.

“Tragically there was nothing that could be done to save the woman – and her son later died in hospital from his injuries. Our hearts go out to the victims’ family and friends at this devastating news.

“Our investigation is progressing and we understand the suspect was known to the family although he is not a relative. We don’t think this was a burglary or a robbery.”

Anyone with information they believe could aid the police investigation is urged to call West Midlands Police on the 101 number.
