Man injured in Leicester - second arrest

Officers have arrested a second person after a man was assaulted in Leicester during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 27 July).

Emergency services were called to Turner Road at about 2.10am where a man had sustained significant burn injuries. He was taken to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.

A woman at the property had also sustained minor injuries, she was taken to hospital and discharged after treatment.

A 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault earlier today and this afternoon a second person, a 51-year-old woman, was also arrested on suspicion of assault. Both remain in police custody.

We are in the early stages of our investigation and at this stage it would appear to be an isolated incident.

A cordon is in place at the scene while forensic examinations are completed and further searches are conducted.
