Man sentenced for sexually assaulting four teenagers

A fork lift truck driver who sexually assaulted four teenage girls has been handed an 11 year prison sentence.

Roy Dempster aged 47, was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on 21 February of three counts of sexual activity with a child, two counts of sexual assault and three counts of supplying drugs, all committed between 2005 and 2015.

Police arrested Dempster on 26 June 2016 after a teenage girl disclosed she had been sexually assaulted by him at a New Year’s Eve Party on 31 December 2014 when she was just 13-years-old.

Following his arrest another three women in their 20s were identified and disclosed historical offences to police.

It was found they were plied with drugs and assaulted by Dempster at his West Heath Flat between 2005 and 2007 when they were in their early teens.

Their bravery was rewarded on Monday (3 April) when he was put behind bars for his actions.

DC Michelle Palmer from the Public Protection Unit said the case should send out a clear message to other victims of historical abuse.

“The victims in this case were affected for years by what had happened. It took a great deal of bravery to come forward but they decided they had to in order to prevent other young women becoming victims.

“Allegations of this nature will always be taken seriously by our officers no matter how many years have passed and I hope the lengthy sentence that has been handed out proves that it is never too late to tell your story and take a dangerous offender off the streets.”

Dempster was sentenced to 11 years in prison for three counts of sexual activity with a child and will serve seven years concurrently for sexual assault and supply of class A and class B drugs.

He has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and has been handed a sexual harm prevention order preventing him from having contact with any female under the age of 16.
