Police have today named a man they want to speak to in connection with a serious sexual offence on a woman in Leicester.
Abdul Omid, who is 36-years-old, is wanted on suspicion of committing the offence at an address in Eastleigh Road last summer.
The incident happened on Friday 8 July 2016, since which time exhaustive efforts have been conducted to identify the person or people responsible for the attack.
As result of developments in the enquiry and further forensic investigations, Police have today named Omid as wanted for questioning.
He has strong connections to Leicester but it is not known whether he is still living in the city.
He is 5ft 7ins tall and has dark hair and dark eyes.
Detective Constable Gemma Partridge, from the force’s Signal team, is leading the year-long investigation.
She said: “Recent enquiries and developments now lead us to believe that Omid was involved in what happened last year in Eastleigh Road. We have conducted numerous enquiries in an attempt to trace him but without success, and I am now turning to the public for their help.
“I would urge anyone who knows where he is to get in touch with us so he can give us an account of what happened to this woman in Eastleigh Road.”
Anyone who sees Omid, or anyone matching his description, should call Leicestershire Police immediately on 101, and quote incident 270 of 14 July.
