Did you witness an assault in Syston in the early hours of New Year’s Day?

Police are investigating after a 38-year-old woman was assaulted during an altercation which happened in Melton Road at around 2am on Thursday January 1.

Around 20 people were involved in the incident which had started in Flames kebab shop and spilled out into the street. The victim attempted to intervene and was punched in the mouth by a woman.

The suspect is described as white, between 17 and 19 years old, of slim build and around 5’3” with long, straight, dark hair. It is believed she was wearing a black mac.

PC 436 John Le-Good, who is investigating, said: “We understand there were a lot of people around at the time of the incident and, if you were one of them, please get in touch.”
