Police appeal to speak to woman who helped victim during assault

Police are appealing to speak to a woman who is believed to have helped protect a victim during an assault.

A 27-year-old man was assaulted on Market Street, Leicester, at around 5.30am on 13 December.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment for injuries he sustained in the incident. He has since been discharged.

An unknown woman is believed to have intervened to try and help stop the assault.

Two men, both aged 20, have been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm in relation to the incident. They have been released under investigation.

DC Frank Fraser said: “We would like to speak to this woman as we think she may be able to help with the investigation and also to pass on thanks to her from the victim in this case.”
