Police officer injured in collision in Loughborough

A 34-year-old man is currently in police custody having been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

The man was arrested yesterday afternoon (Sunday 14 August) after a yellow Ford Transit flatbed vehicle was in collision with a police officer.

The incident happened while officers were attending a report of a burglary in progress on Allendale Road, Loughborough. The officer was injured near to the junction with Hillcrest Drive.

He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham, where he is in a stable condition. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The vehicle was later found abandoned near to Main Street, in Woodthorpe. If anyone was in the area and saw the incident take place, or the vehicle being abandoned, please call 101 and quote incident 434 of 14 August.
