Following a number of complaints about the behaviour of a group of protestors in the city, Leicestershire Police and Leicester City Council have been working in partnership to engage with the protesters in order to resolve their issues.
Members of the public have reported being harassed, alarmed and distressed by the group of men and women who are camping in Jubilee Square, saying they have been verbally abused, shouted at and intimidated by the behaviour of the group.
There have also been reports of street drinking, rubbish bins being tipped over and minor damaged being caused to a building.
Following unsuccessful attempts by a joint team to negotiate with the protesters, dispersal notices have been issued to a number of the group causing antisocial behaviour in the city.
At 5pm, officers attended Jubilee Square, Leicester and dispersed the group using Section 35 of the Antisocial Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
Three men were arrested during the operation on suspicion of failing to disperse and are currently in police custody.
Some of the protestors have been at the location since last Friday (19 August).
