Officers investigating a serious assault in the city centre have made a further arrest.
The assault took place at the junction of Herbert Avenue and Wingfield Street, Leicester, on Thursday afternoon (25 August).
At around 4.30pm two men were in a stationary car when another car approached and a man got out, assaulting the victim, who was inside the stationary vehicle, with what has been described as a machete.
Our investigations are continuing but it’s believed the victim and offender are known to each other. From enquiries we’ve carried out so far we believe the occupants of a silver Toyota Prius may be able to assist with our enquiries.
The Toyota drove up Herbert Avenue while the incident was taking place and may have witnessed it as they had to stop their vehicle, if this was you please get in touch as you may be able to help us.
The victim is currently in hospital receiving treatment for a serious injury to his hand.
A 21-year-old man was arrested for grievous bodily harm with intent and a second man, aged 28, has since been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm. Both men remain in police custody.
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC 4625 Angela Cartwright on 101.
