Police are urging members of the public to be security conscious during the warmer weather.
Inspector Jane Alford-Mole said: “At this time there has not been a considerable rise in the number of burglaries taking place but by taking action to secure your property you vastly decrease the chances of becoming a victim of crime.
“There is no need for members of the public to be overly concerned but by taking simple action they can ensure the safety of their property.
“Please check that all doors remain locked and secure, take time to assess the security of your homes.
“Police in Exeter will take positive action wherever possible to ensure burglars are brought to justice. During the hot weather windows are often left open. We advise the public to not leave items on display and to make sure that your home is secure when you go out.”
