Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of a sexual assault in Exeter in the early hours of this morning [Sunday 4 June] between 3.15am and 3.40am.
A woman in her 20s was approached from behind by an unknown man who sexually assaulted her at the junction with Mount Pleasant Road and Thurlow Road in Exeter.
Detective Sergeant Guy Biggar said: “We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who saw anything suspicious.
“The man is described as having tanned skin, aged around 30-years-old, with very short black spikey hair, and of a big build. He possibly had an Eastern European accent and was wearing a black tee-shirt with white writing on the front and dark jeans.
“We would like to remind the public that these incidents are rare, however, we would always remind people to walk in groups and to stay in well-lit areas, particularly those females walking home following an evening out.
“We would advise people to get a lift home where possible from someone you know and trust and carry a phone and don’t be afraid to contact the Police if you feel that you are being followed.
“We would encourage further witnesses or anyone with information to contact police via email on [email protected] or by telephone on 101, quoting crime reference CR/043733/17.
“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555111.”
