Officers are urgently appealing to trace a suspected burglar after a house on St. Martins Road in Sutton Coldfield was broken into on Monday 19 December.
A 91-year-old woman who lives at the property was home when the suspects smashed a rear patio door to gain access to the house at 10pm.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Tom Lyons said: “Fortunately the lady wasn’t injured, but she was left extremely shaken by her ordeal.
“The suspects told the elderly lady to stay in bed, while they spent time searching her home.”
A substantial amount of jewellery and personal documents were stolen along with cash.
Dc Lyons added: “We’ve already managed to recover the jewellery, and have this morning arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of burglary.”
Officers are now appealing to trace a second man (pictured) who they want to question in connection with the break in.
DC Lyons can be contacted on 101 or information can be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
