Taxi driver robbed in Ashby

Officers are asking for information from the public after a taxi driver was robbed of his takings in Ashby.

The incident happened at around 2am on Saturday 28 January on Mendip Close.

The victim was waiting to pick up a customer when two men got into the car and threatened him with a knife. Two further men approached the car, one threatening him with a hammer.

The victim handed over a quantity of cash and all four men ran off.

The first suspect is described as white, between 20 and 30-years-old, spoke with a local accent and was wearing a dark hooded top. The second suspect is described as white and wearing dark clothing. The third suspect is described as white, around 25-30-years-old, of medium build, with short hair and wearing dark clothing. There is no description for the fourth suspect.

DC 1097 Dan Thorpe, the investigating officer, is asking for anyone who knows the people responsible or has any information about the robbery, to please get in touch.
