Teenager arrested on suspicion of Birmingham murder

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was stabbed to death in Birmingham earlier this week.

Police were called to Summer Lane, Newtown, at just before 8pm on Tuesday 23 August and the 26-year-old victim died in hospital yesterday (Thursday).

A post mortem revealed the man, who has not yet been formally identified, died as a result of a stab wound.

A 19-year-old man from Birmingham was detained in Leicestershire this afternoon on suspicion of murder and will now be questioned by officers in the West Midlands.

A second man, aged 19 from Leicester, has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective Inspector Paul Joyce, from West Midlands Police Force CID said: “The investigation is moving forward but we are still trying to piece together the circumstances of what happened. We would encourage anyone with information to get in contact with us.”
