Teenager charged after gun seized in city centre restaurant

A teenager will appear at court today (15 July) charged with firearm offences following arrests at a city centre restaurant.

Officers attended Bishopsgate Street at around 11.30pm on Wednesday 13 July where it is believed that a fight broke out as officers attempted to search a bag. The bag was found to contain a gun and bullets.

In total seven teenagers aged between 15 and 19 were arrested.

A 17-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons will appear before Birmingham Magistrates Court this morning charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Six teenagers have been bailed pending further enquiries.
