A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man found stabbed to death in a Birmingham street.
Officers investigating the killing of Ibrahim Ismail – found dead outside Raxo Shisha lounge in Moseley Street, Highgate, at 3.30am on 17 December – arrested the 24-year-old Somalian national from an address in Sandwell Road, Handsworth today (Jan 30).
It brings the arrest tally to 10 as detectives continue probing the circumstances around the 23-year-old’s final moments.
On 18 January, six men and a woman were detained on suspicion of being involved in a disorder that led to the killing.
It followed the arrest of men aged 23 and 24 earlier this month; all nine have been bailed while the enquiry progresses.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Martin Slevin, said: “This is a complex investigation… we are following a number of lines of enquiry including an altercation prior to Ibrahim’s death.
“We’ve made a great deal of progress and are starting to build up a clear picture of what happened in the early hours of 17 December.
“We’re determined to bring those responsible to justice – and appeal to any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
“We know there were a number of cars and people in the area at the time, and that some of these people have not yet got in touch. They could have vital information so I would ask them to call me in confidence.”
Anyone with information is urged to call Det Insp Slevin at West Midlands Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
