Police were called to Ashby in the early hours of this morning (Monday 10 July) after an ATM was stolen.
The incident was reported to police at 3.09am and a digger has been used to pull the machine from the wall of a building society in Market Street.
Extensive damage has been caused to the building and a large amount of debris is in the road, leading officers to close the road while the incident is dealt with.
Enquiries into the incident are their very early stages. If anyone witnessed the theft or saw any vehicles arriving or leaving the area at the time of the incident, we’d like to speak to you.
