Detectives investigating the discharge of a firearm in the city centre a couple of weeks ago have made three arrests.
Earlier today (Thursday 19 July) a 23-year-old man from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody.
A 33–year-old man from Birmingham was arrested this evening on suspicion of assisting an offender. He also remains in police custody.
The arrests relate to an incident in York Street after the force received a report suggesting that a firearm had been discharged in the area during the early hours of Sunday 8 July.
Initially police were called at around 2.15am to a report of a car being driven dangerously in the city centre and what was believed to be the sound of a firearm.
Investigations into the incident have been continuing and no one has been reported injured in relation to the incident.
A third person was arrested at the weekend. The 16-year-old boy from Leicester was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
