A 27-year-old man has been arrested today (Monday 12 June) on suspicion of terrorism offences.
The man was arrested from an address in Walsall on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation and instigation of acts of terrorism under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He is being questioned by West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit at a police station in the West Midlands.
The arrest was pre-planned and intelligence-led; there was no threat to the public’s safety.
An address in Walsall is subject of an ongoing search.
The man was arrested under terrorism legislation, meaning officers have an initial 48 hours to question the suspect before charging, releasing or applying for a warrant of further detention.
The arrest is not connected in any way to the Manchester or London attacks.
